The Security Institute Certificate in Security Management
BTEC Level 3 Advanced Certificate
The Certificate is an internationally recognised qualification that results in a BTEC Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Security Management awarded by EdExcel, along with membership to the Security Institute (SyI) at a minimum of ‘Associate’ level (subject to application and validation) and offers the security professional the chance to enhance their skills and improve their career progression.
What you will learn
The course is delivered by distance learning and consists of six modules; three of which are mandatory and three of which are chosen from optional modules. The modules are as follows:
English or Irish law
Management
Fire prevention & control and health and safety
Security of corporate assets (option)
Protection of persons, equipment, information and goods (option)
Emergency situations (option)
Practical retail security (option)
Security orientated law as it affects the retailer (option)
Information security (option)
Counter Terrorism (option)
Who will benefit
The course will benefit anyone seeking professional recognition and qualification within the security sector. The course is open to all those who operate within the private and public security sectors. People who have previously taken the qualification include security managers, health and safety managers, police, fire service personnel and members of the armed services.
Programme and Support
The course is delivered by distance learning giving you the advantage of being able to start the course at various points throughout the year and study from anywhere in the world.
Whilst you are working towards your qualification you will have contact with experienced tutors (members of the SyI and holders of Masters Degrees in Security).
Our course administrators are also available to deal with any admin related issues.

REGISTRATION DEADLINES
We are accepting applications for the January 2012 intake of the Certificate. The deadline for registration for the January 2012 intake is Friday 13th January 2012. Please note this is very soon after the return to work from the Christmas/New Year break so we recommend submitting your application before the holidays.
