General managers as well as security and loss managers are often required to direct or conduct internal investigations within their company. The nature of the investigation whether criminal, disciplinary or regulatory, requires that the investigator be equipped with a range of knowledge and skills. These include case planning, the investigation process, gathering and handling evidence, the management of the investigation, overt and covert techniques(including CCTV), and legal issues, report writing and learning from incidents.
